Cebu Landmasters Celebrates Early Christmas with Upper Tunghaan Elementary School

BARANGAY TUNGHAAN, MINGLANILLA, CEBU –  Christmas definitely came in early this year for the burgeoning Barangay of Tunghaan in Minglanilla, Cebu.

More than 700 students of Upper Tunghaan Elementary School were fortunate enough to receive a donation of a single-storey, 2 classroom building from the Juanito I. King Foundation, Inc. through the auspices of Children’s Hour in partnership with Cebu Landmasters, Inc.

Among those present during the turnover ceremony today were the Mayor of the Municipality of Minglanilla, Hon. Elanito A. Peña, Tunghaan Barangay Captain, Hon. James Getuaban, Ms. Mau Oclinaria representing J. King Foundation, Inc., Mr. Jose R. Soberano III and Jose Franco B. Soberano representing Cebu Landmasters, Inc.

Mrs. Marites Macapobres opened the Programme proper followed by speeches from Mayor Peña and Barangay Getuaban, Mr. Soberano III, Ms. Oclinaria and Parents Teachers Association President Mrs. Teresa Delabrino.

Mayor Peña reiterated his desire in providing the needs, especially classrooms, for his growing constituents.

Barangay Captain Getuaban emphasized the different cooperation initiated by the whole barangay in helping whenever and whatever they could for the project.

Mr. Soberano recapped the points about the “Bayanihang Pampaaralan” Program of the Children’s Hour and the various synergies created among the community and the donors. Mr. Soberano also cited the wonderful support the program has received from the stakeholders concerned.

Ms. Oclinaria talked about the enduring legacy that will be created by the donation to the community as the new classrooms will provide more opportunities for the children to learn and grow to be useful contributors to society.

Unveiling of a plaque and the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon was followed by the blessing of the classrooms headed by Rev. Fr. Oscar Y. Ornopia.

The programme was capped off by a poignant message of gratitude from Mrs. Delabrino who could not thank enough the sponsors for being part in the gift of education.

To add more festivities to the day’s activities, Cebu Landmasters, Inc. distributed nutritious food packets to all the students to remember by one of the students’ most memorable experiences for Christmas.
